At Happy Trails Vacation Rentals, we’ve prepared a peaceful refuge in each of our completely furnished and lovingly decorated “homes away from home” –-- minus the heat of the "flatlands" and the stresses of city life, but with the added indoor conveniences of satellite TV/DVD/VCR/CD, phone and wireless DSL and outside, a propane grill and picnic tables. The living rooms have a small video library, books and games and the kitchens are completely equipped. We've tried to think of everything to make your vacation comfortable and enjoyable.

Centrally located, both Woodland Park, (with the Narnia Cabin and Narnia Bungalow), and Cascade (with the Ranger Station, The Olde Poste and the Caretaker's Cottage), are ideal base camps for day trips in the Pikes Peak region with easy access to the attractions of nearby Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. The Southpark Lodge in Florissant is central to the Cripple Creek/Victor, Pikes Peak and 11-Mile Canyon and Resevoir recreation areas. Comfortable summers and mild winters mean year-round outdoor recreation, including hiking, back-packing, camping, mountain biking, cycling, horse-back riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice skating and fishing along the South Platte River, Manitou Lake, Rampart Range Reservoir, or Eleven Mile Canyon and Reservoir.(click for more details)

From Woodland Park, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the Rampart Range among thick stands of spruce, aspen and fragrant ponderosa pine ... with deep blue skies and fresh air for all. Woodland Park, surrounded by a million acres of Pike National Forest, yet only 18 miles (20 minutes) from Colorado Springs, has all the amenities of small town America: western and antique shops, restaurants, a museum, supermarkets and variety stores.

Cascade provides easy access to S Central Colorado's most famous attractions and destinations: The nearby Garden of the Gods and Red Rocks Canyon Park provide great opportunities for hikes, biking and horse-back riding. Within minutes are the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Cave of the Winds, Miramont Castle Museum, scores of quaint shops, art galleries, an old-time arcade, miniature golf and many great restaurants in Manitou and Colorado Springs.

The Narnia Cabin is a great place to experience a laid-back mountain getaway: in the livingroom, old-style floor-to-ceiling, knotty-pine paneling complements its original, restored hardwood floors. The Ute Pass granite fireplace with its electric insert makes this getaway especially cozy; it feels just like an old ranchhouse, but with the added conveniences of satellite TV/DVD/VCR/CD, a video library, phone and high-speed DSL. Outside on the redwood deck, a propane grill and picnic tables furnish everything needed for outdoor barbecuing.

The Ranger Station's spacious kitchen welcomes you back to a real connection with great-grandma, sitting at the table over coffee or tea, chatting and keeping busy helping with dinner chores. The dining table invites the family to eat the old-fashioned way – together, enjoying meals with the honest hunger that fresh mountain air brings on. Food never tasted so good, nor sleep so deep and sweet, as in the embrace of this generous old house. In the livingroom, the 100+ year-old fireplace still works, and from the porch, you can watch deer feed in the front yard.

The Olde Poste Cottage -- site of Cascade's old post office in the heart of historic Cascade, at the foot of the Pike's Peak Highway. This Victorian cottage, restored and furnished to reflect its genteel past, will return you to a time when folks came up Ute Pass to vacation away from the heat of the "lowlands." The living room walls display prints and photos of Cascade and Olde Poste Cottage from the Ute Pass Historical Society, as well as chronicling the drama of the American Post from the Revolution, through the exciting Pony Express, to the color and charm of the stamps and postcards found in today's U.S. Post Office. The cottage's bedrooms are lovingly decorated to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Across the deck from the Narnia Cabin, the Narnia Bungalow offers another two-bedrooms, a full kitchen, laundry, and living room, accommodating up to 8 people in a slightly more modern-feeling setting with an outdoorsy theme. It also has satellite TV/DVD/VCR/CD, a video library, phone and high-speed DSL. The deck and propane grill provide what's needed for relaxed outdoor barbecuing.

The Caretaker's Cottage is a perfect couple's get-away. Not far from Colorado Springs, yet a cool world away from the city heat, Cascade's breezes are fragrant with vanilla-scented Pondorosa and the musical cascade of Fountain Creek. With convenient access to the Pike's Peak Highway and Highway 24 in beautiful Ute Pass, this historic Victorian cottage will be your headquarters for activies in the Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs and the entire Pike's Peak region.
The Caretaker's Cottage is also offered at discount in conjunction with either the Ranger Station or Olde Poste to serve as an additional bathroom and bedroom for larger parties (no persons under 18).
